The Traces Left Behind

The Traces Left Behind

This project was made in collaboration with the North Korean community in
New Malden. The suburb has the biggest community of North Koreans outside of the Korean Peninsula. Around 600 defectors have settled here to build a new life, free from the regime.

This project explores how rituals and gestures bond us as humans. These small traces of our identity connect us to tradition, family and heritage. They enrich our lives and provide comfort. From these small moments comes profound understanding.

All proceeds from this poster sale will go to NK Connect & the Korean Senior Citizens Society, charities whose mission is to empower North Korean refugees to intergrate and share their stories.
